Asia-Pacific Youth for Human Rights Summit come into the fifth, held in the LE MIDI Hotel,Taiwan, on the 27th, April. The aim is to enhance the universal value of human rights and promote the cultural exchange of youth.
亞太青少年人權高峰會邁入第五屆,27日在溪頭米堤大飯店盛大開幕。主旨為提昇人權普世價值,促進各國青年文化交流。
There are quite a number of countries participating in Taiwan, and there are also discussions on children's and youth human rights issues around the world.
此次來台灣參與的國家相當多,會中也針對世界各地的孩童及青少年人權議題進行討論。
Dr. Mary Shuttleworth,Founder & President Youth for Human Rights International, says:
提倡青少年人權及如何讓青少年了解他們的人權,會讓這些人了解不能去傷害其他小孩。他們可以為自己的權益站出來,因為他們會了解他們是很重要的。
在台灣的青少年是相當幸運的,我知道或許他們並不這麼認為,但我認為他們應該跟我到世界上其他的國家去看一看。他們就會了解,在很多方面,台灣是一個很棒的國家。你們擁有許多的人權,或許並不完美,還有許多方面需要改變,但是你們擁有一個很棒的國家,剩下的是要靠你們去改善他。
校園霸凌問題在台灣是討論相當多的議題。
The campus bullying issue in Taiwan is to discuss quite a number of issues.
Dr. Mary Shuttleworth says:
我知道在世界上有許多國家跟台灣一樣擁有校園霸凌的問題,當學生們在一起,他們會互相討厭對方,或許是因為太窮、太有錢、太胖、太聰明、等等原因,這些情況在全世界都有。但是你們要去改善,要去學習如何團隊合作,因為在未來的每一次機會中,你們需要每一位朋友,我們需要共同創造美好和平的世界。
LI LI YU,the LE MIDI Hotel president, says:
能夠看到這些孩子因為人權的教育、陶冶,逐漸變得更重視別人的人權,也更重視自己的責任義務,讓社會變得更好,比賺錢還更有價值與意義。

根據聯合國兒童基金會、國際勞力組織等數據指出,世界上有三分之二的孩童被監護人虐待。在印度,有超過30萬孩童被迫從事乞討、全世界估計有25萬名孩童被迫從軍。現今科學與科技發展迅速,可惜人權素養卻跟不上它們的腳步。她呼籲,我們一直教導孩子們要有禮貌、成就,也應教他們何謂人權,唯有人權普世價值實踐於生活,才能締造一個和平共處、安居樂業的社會。
